Dojo Tournament

Each year we host an in-house tournament and particpate in a tournament for all Shidokan schools. These are high-quality competitions for all ages and ranks, from White Belt to Black Belt.

Students have a choice of competing in either Kata (forms), Kumite (sparring) or Kobudo (Weapons). Forms are judged on power, grace, effectiveness, and presentation.

Light-contact sparring is run as a competition tree (elimination), featuring three-point or two-minute matches, whichever comes first. Saftey is stressed.

First through third place receive Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals and all particpants get a particpation medal for their efforts. Proper attitude is stressed at all times and no coaching is allowed from the sidelines.

It truly is a supportive and positive environment to increase your confidence. Shidokan's tournament is held each May and our in-house tournament is held either in the summer or the fall.
