You may test for your belt between 3-4 months. You will be awarded a stripe with the date of your promotional when you pass.
Green Belt - Gokyu (5th level) - All of the previous requirements, plus: |

Be able to properly help someone else in a class and explain the meaning of the word Samurai (to serve). Weapons Safety: Explain what to do if you see a gun or other dangerous weapon (Stop, Don't touch, Leave the Area, Tell an appropriate person). |

Physical |
25 Jumping Jacks, 25 Push-ups, 25 Sit-ups and 25 Mountain Climbers Bunkai: (Apply and Explain) Fuji Kata Dai Ichi, specifically, bunkai low block, high block, & punches (e.g. where is the target) Flexibility: Demonstrate proper upper body stretches for biceps (palm down, reach back), triceps (arm across body with elbow bent), chest (palms up, straight elbow, stretch back). |

Jr. Green Belt - Gokyu, Youth Requirements |

Each progress stripe requires 1 month (8 classes). You will be tested for your next belt after passing all four stripes AND an additional month (8 classes).

Character Development: Ask for the Verbal Terminology Quiz and Take Home History Quiz at the beginning of the month. Leadership: Be able to properly help someone else in a class. Weapons Safety: Explain what to do if you see a gun or other dangerous weapon (Stop, Don't touch, Leave the area, Tell an adult). Explain at least one karate master (See the Essence of Okinawan Karate-Do). |

Purple Stripe Physical |

Note: At Green Belt, all students should begin to log their Leadership Classes. A minimum of 8 Classes for Blue Belt, 20 Classes for Brown Belt, and 40 for Jr. Black Belt are required. If you haven’t started yet, you need to start working on leadership classes. Under Brown Belt, Leadership hours are done in your own class. Above brown belt, they are done in another class. Talk to an Instructor for details.
